DDR4 is the new standard in system memory. DDR2 and DDR3 are stories of past, I know there are systems still around with DDR3 and few of them with DDR2 memory but if you are going to build a new system you won’t be picking up anything but DDR4 RAMs.

DDR4 Motherboards!
Before we get our hands on some nice DDR4 RAMs we should first make sure that we have a DDR4 compatible Motherboard. Intel’s X99 Chipset codenamed “Wellsburg” was Intel’s first Chipset to feature DDR4 memory supporting LGA 2011-v3 Socket, Intel has now released 100 Series Chipset family codenamed “Sunrise Point” which will use a new Socket type LGA 1151, this family brings with it seven Chipsets; H110, B150, Q150, H170, Q170 and Z170 being the head of the family, Z170 is packed with power and performance for PC enthusiast, Hard Core Gamers and Content Creators, especially it’s 20 PCI-E 3.0 Lanes which makes it stand out of the crowd, if you don’t have a DDR4 motherboard Buy One From Here!

We need to consider few things before we make our purchase, we should make use of the Dual Channel or Quad Channel memory configuration or whatever your motherboard features, so buy RAMs in 2, 3 and 4 Sticks pair and install them in matching banks or if you want to fill all the RAM slots in your Motherboard then make purchases in 4, 6 and 8 Sticks pair.
Also, buy at least 8GB capacity of RAM whether you are gaming, video editing or multitasking, a minimum of 8GB RAM is recommended, you can either install single 8GB stick or you can install two 8GB sticks to run Dual Channel Configuration.
Although there are many DDR4 kits available in market we recommend few of these options for you.

Computer Case!
If I am buying a computer case I will look for few things in it, first is cooling system by cooling system I mean there should be about three fans in computer case, one in the front, one in the rear and one on the side panel, second is tool free design for the ease of installation, last but not least a front panel and if it has looks that’s a plus point for me.
Cooler Master Centurion 5!

Power Supply (Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU)!
Since this is not a power hungry rig you don’t need to add a power supply, the power supply that comes with your computer case should be able to provide your system enough juice to run smoothly but still if you insist on one here is my recommendation.
Thermaltake is a big name when it comes to power supplies and computer cases, for this cheap gaming rig I suggest you to go with Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU power supply which is a 500watts psu. Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU

Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU

+12V Rails:
This power supply comes with two +12Volt rails with one rated at 14A and one rated at 15A, so, +12V rail of this psu delivers a total of 29Amperage and a 9600 GT video card needs at least 26 Amperes on the 12V rail to run.
Power Supply Connectors:
1x 24-pin Main Power Connector
1x 4-pin 12V Power Connector
8x 4-pin Molex Connectors
4x 5-pin SATA Connectors
1x 6-pin PCI-Express Connector
2x 4-pin Floppy Drive Connectors
Power Supply Fan!
This power supply comes with a 120x120x25mm size fan which runs at maximum speed of 2400RPM, this fan automatically adjust it’s speed according to the temperature of the power supply, it would run at 1525 rpm if temps are at 28.6°C and if temps raises it will speed up further to keep the power supply cool, with a noise level of 19dBA at 2000RPM you won’t even notice it running in your system, so, don’t worry about the noise level of this fan.

Nvidia SLI support has finally arrive to Intel’s DX58SO motherboard codenamed Smackover, which is Intel’s manufactured motherboard with their X58 Express chipset. Last year Intel launched their Core i7 line of processors and along came this new motherboard from Intel to support the Core i7 CPU series, even though the chipset X58 supports Nvidia SLI which is a multi-GPU configuration, Intel didn’t implement it in their DX58SO motherboard. Morning of Feb-11-2009 Nvidia announced that Intel has given them license to bring their multi-gpu support for Intel’s DX58SO motherboard. So, from now on Intel Smackover will support Nvidia SLI even in Quad-SLI config on its dual PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots, you can use any (any means any, doesn’t have to be two same gpus) two GeForce GPUs for SLI configuration, for best performance in Quad SLI your best option is a pair of GeForce GTX 295. As most of you know that Intel’s dual cpu platform Skulltrail has an embedded Nvidia PCI Express controller to run SLI config whereas Intel DX58SO Smackover motherboard simply has an embedded key in motherboard bios from Nvidia and Forceware drivers will enable SLI once key is located from the motherboard bios.

So, for the first time in history you can enjoy the advantages of SLI, PhysX, CUDA and GeForce Stereoscopic 3D stereo all in an Intel platform, isn’t it exciting? best processor chipset and best graphics chipset in one place?.

Intel has already introduced their energy-efficient CPUs of Quad Core lineup on Jan-19-2009, these three low power consuming CPUs were introduced for Core 2 Quad lineup, Q8200s, Q9400s, Q9550s, these cpu’s comes with a TDP of 65W. This is not the end of the story, Intel is also planning to launch 45nm Lynnfield Core i5 processors in August or September of this year, these processors will be of LGA1156 socket and will come with a TDP of 95W.
Later in Q1 2010 Intel will release the same 45nm Lynnfield Core i5 processors with a lower TDP of 65W. The purpose of these low power CPUs are not only to bring down energy consumption of cpu’s but also to enable scalability to even those platforms that are developed for cpu’s with power rating of 65W.

Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9650, 3GHz, fabricated at 45nm process technology, SSE4 (Streaming SIMD Extensions 4) media instruction, 1333MHz FSB, 12MB of L2 cache, Intel 64, VT (Intel Virtualization Technology), vPro, TxT (Intel Trusted Execution Technology), XD Bit (Execute Disable Bit), EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology) and LGA775 package.

This is the fastest cpu in Intel’s Quad Core lineup. I know it’s still $17 more than Intel’s MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) which is $317 but this is the lowest I could find on internet.

It’s cpu upgrade time folks! Coming 19-Jan-2009 Intel will lower the prices for their CPUs in a response to AMD Phenom II cpu which runs at stock speed of 3GHz. It’s an aggressive cut in cpu prices from Intel specially for Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 cpu which gets a whopping 40% cut in price, from $525 to $317, running at 3GHz speed with 12MB-cache and FSB of 1333MHz built on 45nm manufacturing process, I would say it’s a Killer bang for buck ratio. Dont cha love this competition?. Lets hope AMD will bring more CPUs which will perform better and compel Intel to produce even better performing low priced CPUs.

Intel Core 2 Quad CPUs Price Cut

Intel Core 2 Quad CPUs Price Cut

With this new change in prices Q9650 will reflect the price of Q9550, Q9550 will be at the price of Q9400, Q9400 will be at the current price of Q8300. Core 2 Quad Q8200 with it’s new price of $167 will become cheaper than Q6600, which is priced at $189. Intel’s E7400 and E5300 will also drop in price as new processors E7500 at 2.93GHz with a price tag of $137 and E5400 at 2.7GHz speed with a price tag of $87 are said to emerge January-18-2009.
